Note: Selected monthly owner costs include real estate taxes; fire, hazard, and flood insurance; electricity, gas, water and sewer; other fuels; and, where applicable, homeowners association or condominium fees. For mobile homes, they also include site rent, personal-property taxes, registration, and license fees. Mortgage and other property-backed debt payments are excluded. Percentiles are estimated from the Census's cost brackets. If a percentile of monthly owner costs is above a certain amount, the Census Bureau does not release the specific value, so we show “Over” that amount. That cutoff was $3,000 in 2010–14 ($3,975 in 2024 dollars). It has been $4,000 since 2015–19, so it is worth less in later releases: $4,908 in 2024 dollars for 2015–19.
